Kununurra, Mitchell Plateau
Kununurra, Ngaurudu (Mitchell Plateau)
On the day of embarkation, a courtesy vehicle will collect you from your accommodation in Kununurra and transfer you to the Kununurra airstrip to join the Aviair light aircraft for your flight to Ngaurudu (Mitchell Plateau). Once at the plateau, enjoy a heli flight over the Mitchell Falls before arriving on Ocean Dream’s helideck. Your cruise begins with welcome aboard drinks before you unpack, relax and get to know your fellow adventurers over a delicious lunch served on the rear deck. After lunch, it’s time to set off in the tenders for an afternoon excursion to visit a few of the many Wandjina Art galleries in the bay before arriving back onboard for canapes and refreshments on the bow.Swift Bay
Warrabii (Swift Bay)
Spend the morning exploring our anchorage location of Warrabii, also known as Swift Bay. The Explorer Philip Parker King originally named the area ‘Swift’s Bay’ after Jonathon Swift (1667-1745), the author of Gulliver’s Travels. Unlike most of the northern coastline, Warrabii features a predominantly flat, rocky shoreline with minimal vegetation and has several sandy beaches. For the avid birdwatcher, the bay is known for its remarkable migratory and wading birdlife. Warrabii is a great place to spend the day exploring and to try our luck at fishing for the evening meal.MONTAGUE SOUND
Montague Sound
Visit Montague Sound, where we are fortunate to view fascinating Gwion Gwion and Wandjina Art with a maritime theme. The Sound is a wildlife hotspot with a number of iconic Australian species including rock wallabies, northern quoll and the scaly-tailed possum inhabiting the area. Its the perfect place for fishing, oystering and exploring and after a day of activities, we set up on a secluded beach to watch the sun go down and relax around a beach bonfire.Mitchell River
Mitchell River
Today we rise early to fish the best tides and set our crab pots amongst the mangroves. After a delicious lunch onboard, we prepare for a hike to Aunauya (Surveyors Pool) where we have an opportunity to cool off with a refreshing swim. Finish another majestic day in the Kimberley with sunset drinks on the bow as you enjoy your freshly caught mud crabs perfectly prepared by the chef.Vansittart Bay
Banjal (Vansittart Bay)
Join a tender vessel excursion to Jar Island to view some fascinating Gwion Gwion Art. Often referred to as Bradshaw Art, Gwion Gwion was first discovered in 1891 by explorer Joseph Bradshaw who became the first European to record these unusual paintings. Gwion Gwion Art is unique to the Kimberley region and recorded to be over 17,000 years old. On the eastern side of Vansittart Bay, we also have the opportunity to walk to the crash site of a DC3 aircraft which crashed in 1942.Glycosmis Falls, Barra Falls
Glycosmis Falls &
Barra Falls
Located near Cape Londonderry, today we experience two unique and impressive falls of the north Kimberley. Glycosmis Falls, complete with two thundering streams of water pouring off the cliff face into the sea is well worth a visit and if time permits and tides are right, we can explore the area for Bradshaw Art. Barra Falls, equally as impressive and only accessible by helicopter or smaller vessels, is a stunning location for a hike and freshwater swim.King George River
King George River
At high tide, we cross the sandbars of the King George River and make our way up to the picturesque Oomari (King George Falls). It is an enticing welcome to one of the Kimberley’s most magnificent natural wonders where the dual waterfall has a vertical drop of over 80m, making it one the tallest waterfalls in Western Australia. It is little wonder the King George River is a highlight for guests and a favourite destination for keen photographers.Berkeley River
Berkeley River
Join a tender vessel excursion to explore the beautiful Berkeley River, with towering gorges, waterfalls, and sandstone cliffs. We discover the head of this incredible river system and the myriad of animal species that call this place home. Here we have an opportunity to swim in freshwater billabongs or try our luck with a spot of lure fishing.Kununurra, Wyndham
Kununurra - Wyndham Port
On the day of embarkation, a courtesy vehicle will collect you from your accommodation in Kununurra and after a short coach journey to Wyndham Port, you will arrive at the awaiting Ocean Dream. Your cruise begins with welcome aboard drinks, as you cruise out of the Cambridge Gulf watching a glorious Kimberley sunset. Unpack, meet your fellow adventurers, and enjoy a delicious dinner served on the rear deck while we cruise through the night towards the Berkeley River.Berkeley River
